The Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) has developed an Emergency Health and Nutrition Response Plan to address the humanitarian crisis in Borno State. The key interventions to be delivered are; emergency nutrition, management of co-morbidities (provision of basic essential health services), supply of medicines and health commodities, co-ordination and management information system among others.
The emergency intervention program is for a period of six (6) months focusing on the most vulnerable (women, children under 5, pregnant and lactating mothers) in the most affected areas.
Specifically the emergency support will be targeted at:
* IDPs in camps and host communities
* Host Communities impacted by influx of IDPs
* IDPs in make-shift or informal camps
* IDPs that move out of camps to their original communities.
* Refugees returning from other countries
* People residing in newly assessable areas.
In view of the above, the FmoH seeks to recruit volunteers for six (6) months: medical doctors, nurses, nutrition officers, pharmacists/pharmacy technicians, and laboratory scientist, These volunteer health personnel to be recruited will have the following responsibilities:
i. To support the delivery of health services at functional facilities within Borno State.
ii. To provide outreach and mobile health services to various communities in the state in line with existing protocols and standard operating procedures.
iii. To support development of mechanisms and strategies pursuant to improvement of quality of health services in health facilities according to their levels.
iv. To support the generation of information at health facility and community levels on the services provided in line with the National Health Management Information Systems (NHMIS).
v. To support health promotion and community mobilisation with a view to improving community knowlegde on health issues and eventual increase in demand for services. vi. To perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the FMOH Management.
Required Qualifications:
A. Medical Doctors:
* Candidates must possess a MBBS Degree and have successfully completed the one year internship
* Candidates must have Current Practicing License.
* At least Two (2) years post registration experience
* Letter of recommendation from a reputable citizen or public officer
B. Pharmacist
* Candidates must possess a Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy and must be registered with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
* Candidates must also possess the NYSC Discharge Certificate. Candidate must possess a current practicing licence. At least Two (2) years’ experience
Pharmacy technicians; Qualified with four (4) years post qualification experience
* Letter of recommendation from a reputable citizen or public officer
C. Nurses/midwife
* Must have a registered nursing/midwifery certificate
* Must possess a NYSC Certificate
* At least 1-2 years post registration preferably in a Health facility
* Letter of recommendation from a reputable citizen or public officer
Nutrition Officers.
* Candidate must possess a BSc/HND Nutrition
* NYSC Certificate
* 1-2 years’ experience
* Letter of recommendation from a reputable citizen or public officer
D. Laboratory Scientist
* Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science
* Must provide evidence of registration by the Medical Laboratory Science council of Nigeria
• Must possess the NYSC Discharge Certificate.
* Letter of recommendation from a reputable citizen or public officer
